Paraburdoo’s fastest athlete will soon be crowned at the inaugural Paraburdoo Gift on Friday, October 21.

The Gift will be held at 6pm at the Paraburdoo Sports Oval in conjunction with the Colour Fun Run, which is being put on by the Paraburdoo Men’s Shed.

Race entrants will be up against athletics champion Mark Elms, who has put $100 on the table for anyone able to beat him across the finish line.

Paraburdoo Men’s Shed president Darryl Gnazdiloff said the Gift would be a unique event for the town.

“Standard gift races across Australia are usually a 100m footrace,” he said.

“We breed people pretty tough here in the Pilbara, so we’re making the Paraburdoo Gift that bit tougher by extending it to a 400m sprint.”

The race is open to 20 fit male or female runners over the age of 16.

The night will also include entertainment, food, drinks and competitions.

Entrants can register for the Gift or Colour Run online at trybooking.com/MUSZ now.
