Seven tourists in Exmouth were issued with infringements for shoplifting over two days last week.
Exmouth police say the people, who were all overseas tourists staying in town, took small items from a range of different shops, including supermarkets and news agencies.
They were stopped and apprehended by individual shop owners before officers attended and issued them with infringement notices for stealing, which carry fines of $500 each. The cases are believed to be unrelated. Exmouth police First Class Constable Dawn Horgan said theft at local shops was not infrequent, though they suspected some cases were not reported to police.
