Expert talks on Burrup

Pilbara News - - Lifestyle -

Join guest speaker Vicki Long for a free talk on the uniqueness of the Burrup Peninsular at the Karratha Library on Saturday, October 15, at 11.30am.

Learn what makes the Burrup so unique in terms of its geology, topography, vegetation and, of course, rock art and why we should protect it.

Ms Long has lived in Karratha and worked as a botanist in the Pilbara, especially coastal Pilbara, for more than 30 years.

She has conducted many surveys on the Burrup and was one of three WA botanists commissioned by the Government to survey the Burrup for flora and vegetation in 2000.

Ms Long also co-wrote the book Along the Burrup —– Nature and Habitats of the Burrup Peninsula, Pilbara WA, which is available to borrow from the library.

For more information, contact Helena Mead at Karratha Library on 9186 8660 or email karratha.library@karratha. wa.gov.au.
