Raise a glass to the Germans
Get those dirndls and lederhosen ready for this year’s North West Oktoberfest, next Saturday, October 15.
A little bit of Germany will come to Karratha from 2pm next Saturday as a beer tent is erected in the city centre.
The event will now take place on the grassed area outside the Karratha Quarter rather than Cattrall Park.
Event organiser Bart Parsons wanted to make the most of the new space. “We wanted to utilise that park and the big tree, so it’ll be pretty cool,” he said.
Now in its second year, the Karratha Oktoberfest celebrations will have a silent disco and a wider range of beers on tap, including three international and five local brews.
There will also be traditional German food on offer as well as drinks, live music, entertainment, games and competitions.
Mr Parsons encouraged patrons to dress up and costumes will be available from Blanche Bar. There will be prizes for the best dressed individual and couple, and a sausage-eating contest.
Included in the ticket price is a stein and a $10 food voucher.
Tickets are $35 and available from Blanche Bar, Edge Surf, Cool Change, Stingaz Surf, North West Liquor or online. For more, head to Blanche Bar’s Facebook page.
In its second year, the North West Oktoberfest will take place at the Karratha Quarter.
