Awards recognise home-building excellence in Pilbara
The Housing Industry Association announced the winners and finalists of the North West Housing Awards at a ceremony early last month in Broome with three Pilbara properties and businesses coming out winners.
Pebble Beach Constructions took home three awards for a home they built on the Exmouth marina.
The Exmouth-based company took home the award for custom-built home ($650,001-$750,000), framed housing ($600,001-$800,000) and framed home of the year.
Karratha-based L E Roberts Building Design won residential building designer of the year for the third consecutive year.
L E Roberts Building Design director Lawrence Roberts said winning the award was quite an achievement.
“This year the region was the entire Northwest, which included homes on the canals in Exmouth, and extending through homes in Onslow, the Pilbara and the Kimberley,” he said.
“A suburban Karratha home winning against more glamorous areas was very rewarding.”
L E Roberts Building design has been offering architectural design and documentation services to Karratha and surrounding areas for more than 26 years.
DA Burke Builders won four awards including custom-built home ($750,000 and over), framed housing ($400,001-$600,000) and innovation in housing project of the year for their project in Onslow as well as excellence in service.
Although based in Mandurah, DA Burke Builders used to have a permanent workforce in Onslow and continue to provide their services to Pilbara clients.
DA Burke Builders manger Clayton Burke said he was “pretty stoked” about the wins, especially the excellence in service award.
“At the end of the day that’s probably the biggest one for us — we’re nothing unless our customers are happy,” he said.
This property in Onslow won two awards at this year's HIA North West Housing Awards.
