Crowd-funding event forced to cancel
Low registrations have resulted in the cancellation of a crowdfunding event for Karratha.
The initiative from social entrepreneurship agency the Funding Network was due to show at the Karratha Leisureplex tomorrow evening but was cancelled last Thursday when registrations hovered around the 50 mark and it was unclear how many ticket buyers would attend.
The event was set to be the first the agency had put on in regional Australia to raise up to $15,000 each for local charities the Pilbara Ear Health Program, OzHelp Foundation and Boss Hogg Boxing and Fitness Academy from audience donations.
The selected charities will still receive $7500 grants each from major sponsor Rio Tinto under a match funding agreement made as part of the event.
