Closing bash marks end of era for eatery
After two years of service in Exmouth, 5 Kennedy St Restaurant is closing its doors this month.
To celebrate its time in Exmouth, owner Dexter Stone is throwing a Closing Bash on Saturday, October 22, before he shuts up shop the next day.
The cocktail party event is being kept exclusive, with only 100 tickets on sale, and there will be live music by The Wannabees and Colin Dodds, as well as an open bar, canapes and cocktails.
Mr Stone said he had decided to acknowledge the occasion with a party after learning the new owners were going to rename the restaurant and re-open it as a microbrewery.
“It gave me an opportunity to close down 5 Kennedy St as such ... and to throw one last bash,” he said. “We used to throw a couple of parties each year.
“We’d have an opening bash, fly a Mexican band over (for another), a first birthday and a few others in between.
“It was more about keeping interest high in the business.”
“And now that we’re closing it’s again an excuse to throw one last bash and go out with a bang.”
Mr Stone said running 5 Kennedy St, his first venture in Exmouth, had been a positive experience.
“It really has been wonderful — Exmouth is a very neat little place,” he said.
“The restaurant can feed about 100 people and we fill up most seats most nights.”
Tickets to the 5 Kennedy St closing party cost $85.
