Dedicated Nickol Bay Hockey Association players lifted to a new high last Wednesday with a fast-paced and highly skilled game that left everyone satisfied at the final siren.

The Pilbara Giraffes came out hard and fast.

Father-son duo Nevin and Marty Shakespeare had great games and worked brilliantly with new member Ryan Pillar out on the pitch for the first time in Karratha.

The Giraffes were able to keep the ball moving out wide, passing right around the Karratha Seagulls’ midfield.

The Seagulls started somewhat slower, but lifted in the second half.

Craig Boyce returned for his second week of Pilbara hockey and really helped lift the Seagulls game, putting pressure on the opposition from the defensive half along with Angela Ballantyne.

With Paul Montgomery off in the second half because of injury, Seagulls attackers Alex Walter and Tim Ballantyne upped their passing game to score some goals and start closing the gap.

The Giraffes defeated Seagulls 11-8. the
