Warriors win back finals pride

Pilbara News - - Sport - Rob Skinner

Mongrels and Warriors met this week for the first time since Mongrels’ emphatic 8-2 grand final victory. However, it was anything but easy. Warriors whitewashed Mongrels in the first round to hold a resounding 5-0 lead.

Mongrels would need to pull off something special to come back from this, although they won the next two rounds 3-2.

In the end, Warriors somewhat redeemed their grand final showing with a 9-6 win.

Celts had their inaugural match in the association against Wreckers, a quality team that finished third in the winter competition.

While Wreckers proved too strong with three 3-2 rounds to win 9-6, it was a promising start for the Celts — a new team which will take a while to learn the rules.

In the other match, Slaminars also found revenge for their winter competition B-grade finals loss to Recaholics, winning comfortably 10-5.
