Res­i­den­tial is just good busi­ness. Work­ers aren't wor­ry­ing about their fam­i­lies, friends and part­ners back in Perth, be­cause they live with them. Res­i­den­tial work­ers are fo­cused on the job, not count­ing down the days to get home. Ryan McEwan Some mines don't hap­pen to be any­where near a town so FIFO is the only way to ac­cess them. The Pil­bara re­lies on vol­un­teers and many dis­agreed with a state­ment by Depart­ment of Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices Com­mis­sioner Wayne Greg­son that young peo­ple are not do­ing their share.
