Man pleads not guilty to his­toric abuse charges

A man charged with sex­u­ally abus­ing a young girl in Tom Price more than three decades ago has pleaded not guilty in court.

Eric Mil­lard, 73, was ar­rested by Mid­land de­tec­tives in Septem­ber as a re­sult of an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into his­toric child abuse al­le­ga­tions.

It is al­leged Mr Mil­lard as­saulted a young girl 24 times over a pe­riod of seven years be­tween 1979 and 1986.

The girl was three years old at the time of the first al­leged of­fence. Ap­pear­ing in Perth Mag­is­trate’s Court last Fri­day, Mr Mil­lard de­nied the charges and pleaded not guilty to 24 counts of in­de­cent deal­ings with a child un­der the age of 14.

Mag­is­trate Martin Flynn ex­tended the For­rest­field man’s bail for the sec­ond time af­ter he first ap­peared in court on Novem­ber 4.
