MinRes lifts iron ore output
Mineral Resources has taken advantage of steadying iron ore prices in the September quarter, lifting volumes from its Pilbara and Yilgarn operations.
MinRes’ September quarter report, released last week, showed it shipped 3.5 million tonnes of ore in the period, 18 per cent more than the last quarter.
Its operations on BC Iron’s Iron Valley tenements shipped a record 2.2 million tonnes and its Carina mine in the State’s south exported 1.3mt, 13 per cent more than the last period.
MinRes said it had also begun lithium exploration at its Wodgina tenements about 100km south-east of Port Hedland after completing the acquisition of the project from Global Advanced Metals during the quarter.
