MinRes lifts iron ore out­put

Min­eral Re­sources has taken ad­van­tage of steady­ing iron ore prices in the Septem­ber quar­ter, lift­ing vol­umes from its Pil­bara and Yil­garn op­er­a­tions.

MinRes’ Septem­ber quar­ter re­port, re­leased last week, showed it shipped 3.5 mil­lion tonnes of ore in the pe­riod, 18 per cent more than the last quar­ter.

Its op­er­a­tions on BC Iron’s Iron Val­ley ten­e­ments shipped a record 2.2 mil­lion tonnes and its Carina mine in the State’s south ex­ported 1.3mt, 13 per cent more than the last pe­riod.

MinRes said it had also be­gun lithium ex­plo­ration at its Wodg­ina ten­e­ments about 100km south-east of Port Hed­land af­ter com­plet­ing the ac­qui­si­tion of the pro­ject from Global Ad­vanced Me­tals dur­ing the quar­ter.
