A blistering half-century from opener Matthew Nowotny has put Wickham clear at the top of the table after four rounds of the West Pilbara Cricket Association 40 over competition.

Nowotny knocked an unbeaten 63 to guide Wickham to a threewicket win over the Baynton Lions with two overs to spare.

He was aided by handy middle order cameos from Craig Nunn (39) and Lachlan Smith (28) as Wickham consigned the visitors to the bottom of the table.

Nunn was handy with the ball too, claiming 4/5 off eight overs to rip through the Lions’ middle order and restrict them to 160.

The Karratha Kats scored a sixwicket victory at Windy Ridge over Dampier off the back of a 50 on debut for Bernard Atkin.

The Kats reached 4/111 after bowling the Taverners out in the 29th over. Corey Rutgers was the pick of the bowlers for the Kats, claiming two wickets and not conceding a single run.

Shane Gray also claimed a twofor in his two over spell.

In Bulgarra, the Rec Club chased down the Pegs Creek Crabs’ 148run total in 37 overs. Jacob Innamorati (3/35) and Jacob Hill (3/33) both claimed three wickets for the Rec Club before Brendon Kuiper (77no) did the damage with the bat.

Wickham sit clear at the top of the table with the Kats, Crabs and Taverners all jostling for the rest of the play-off positions.
