Decorate to trend in 2017

Pilbara News - - Pilbara Property - Rachel Preston-Bidwell

The 2017 interior design forecast features a mixture of natural tones and textures, industrial aesthetics and plush furnishings.

Buying into trends can seem daunting, especially as they change so frequently.

Here’s a selection of the top four trends you can easily incorporate into your home decor without the long-term commitment. (think deep purples, blues and emerald greens).

Stay on-trend and add some key pieces to your home such as pillows, throw rugs and metallic picture frames.

These options are easy to change up as well when the mood strikes or if you move house.

Moving away from the copper and rose gold accents of 2016, the new year will see more black and burnished metals in their place.

Go for industrial-style coffee tables and bookcases, or smaller decorative pieces such as coasters and trinket dishes.

Timber, clay, cork and wicker are predicted to feature more in place of marble, which has been trending during the past year.

Burnt orange and earthy tones are also set to take over colour palettes on walls and linen.

If you’re renting and want to spruce up your home without dipping into paint, try less permanent options such as colourful room dividers, decorative plant pots and cork display boards.

Creating a comfortable living space has become more desirable because of the increased amount of people working from home or time spent lounging on the couch scrolling through social media.

Incorporate knit wool rugs, floor cushions and plush sofas to add more comfort to your space.

If you’re renting, be sure to speak to your property manager before making any permanent changes.
