Snippa a cut above the rest
Team Snippa has won the annual King Bay Game Fishing Club estuary challenge, targeting barramundi and other species found in the creeks of Nickol Bay.
Snippa, crewed by Steve and Jackson Tatham, won the $1000 major prize for the competition.
Half Serious came in second and Get Loose rounded out the top three.
Sam Palmer’s 105cm barramundi stood out as a catch of the day, as did Darcy Bryce’s 94cm queenie.
It was a good day out for the Bryce family, with Lincoln Bryce hooking the longest salmon too.
Jack Newman bagged the longest mangrove jack.
Ryley Hinchcliffe and Shaun Tanner tied for first in the junior barra category, with Hinchcliffe winning on a countback.
Brock Crowhurst won the junior all-species award.
Brad Pownall won the adult all-species category, with Nick Horlock and Toby Mason winning the adult barra caught on bait and barra caught on lure awards respectively.
KBGFC president Ryan Bryce said it was a “fantastic” event with some great fish measured and released.
During the competition, 171 fish were caught, including 31 barra and 80 jacks.
Joyce Kranes, Adventure Sports, The Brey, and Karratha Signs sponsored the event.
