Snippa a cut above the rest

Team Snippa has won the an­nual King Bay Game Fish­ing Club es­tu­ary chal­lenge, tar­get­ing bar­ra­mundi and other species found in the creeks of Nickol Bay.

Snippa, crewed by Steve and Jack­son Tatham, won the $1000 ma­jor prize for the com­pe­ti­tion.

Half Se­ri­ous came in sec­ond and Get Loose rounded out the top three.

Sam Palmer’s 105cm bar­ra­mundi stood out as a catch of the day, as did Darcy Bryce’s 94cm quee­nie.

It was a good day out for the Bryce fam­ily, with Lin­coln Bryce hook­ing the long­est salmon too.

Jack New­man bagged the long­est man­grove jack.

Ry­ley Hinch­cliffe and Shaun Tan­ner tied for first in the ju­nior barra cat­e­gory, with Hinch­cliffe winning on a count­back.

Brock Crowhurst won the ju­nior all-species award.

Brad Pow­nall won the adult all-species cat­e­gory, with Nick Hor­lock and Toby Ma­son winning the adult barra caught on bait and barra caught on lure awards re­spec­tively.

KBGFC pres­i­dent Ryan Bryce said it was a “fan­tas­tic” event with some great fish mea­sured and re­leased.

Dur­ing the com­pe­ti­tion, 171 fish were caught, in­clud­ing 31 barra and 80 jacks.

Joyce Kranes, Ad­ven­ture Sports, The Brey, and Kar­ratha Signs spon­sored the event.
