DUET gas boost

The owner of the Dampier to Bun­bury gas pipe­line has an­nounced plans to build WA’s big­gest gas stor­age fa­cil­ity near Onslow.

DUET Group’s wholly owned sub­sidiary DBP De­vel­op­ment Group will build the $69 mil­lion fa­cil­ity, ex­pected to be in op­er­a­tion by June next year.

The fa­cil­ity will hold 42 peta­joules of gas with daily in­jec­tion and with­drawal rates of about 50 ter­a­joules.

CITIC Pa­cific, which op­er­ates the nearby Sino Iron mag­netite mine, will be the foun­da­tion cus­tomer of the fa­cil­ity un­der a 10-year gas stor­age agree­ment with op­tions for a fur­ther five years.
