New Wickham venue Rambla Bar was broken into and robbed twice last week, the latest in a series of incidents disrupting the new business.

In two separate incidents last week, the business’ bolted storeroom was broken into late at night and a large amount of alcohol taken.

Roebourne police Sergeant Steve Taylor said officers had so far charged five people — four adults and one juvenile aged 16 — with aggravated burglary over an incident on Friday, January 6.

He said police would claim the accused had used bolt cutters and a kangaroo jack to enter the store- room. Another incident earlier in the week involved similar methods but police believe a different person, or group, was responsible.

Rambla Bar owner Bart Parsons said the venue had been broken into three times since opening in October and there had been another attempted case.

“The first couple were fairly minimal but the last one they took a fair bit of stock,” he said.

“Insurance covers this, but our premiums will eventually be pushed up if it continues.”

Mr Parsons said Rambla and the City of Karratha, which owns the building, had installed fortified locks to deter burglars but the means of forcing entry had been “escalating”.
