Community funds boost
A range of Pilbara community organisations have received tens of thousands of dollars in funding for project upgrades through the Royalties for Regions Regional Grant Scheme and Community Chest funding.
Yaandina Family Centre and the City of Karratha received $300,000 each, for a refurbishment and a park expansion respectively.
The Onslow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, WA Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine, Pilbara Regional Council and Big hART also received funding.
There were also a bevy of Community Chest recipients who were awarded up to $50,000 each, including the Paraburdoo Motorcycle Club, Onslow Rodeo Association, Onslow Tourism and Progress Association, De Grey Land Conservation District Committee, Karratha BMX Club and Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation.
In Exmouth, the Exmouth Tennis Club, Sporting Shooters, Yacht Club and St John Ambulance Sub Centre all received funding to upgrade facilities.
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman said the money would help regional organisations fund community-driven projects, which made a big difference in their areas.
Member for North West Central Vince Catania congratulated local recipients.
