Com­mu­nity funds boost

A range of Pil­bara com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions have re­ceived tens of thou­sands of dol­lars in fund­ing for project up­grades through the Roy­al­ties for Re­gions Re­gional Grant Scheme and Com­mu­nity Chest fund­ing.

Yaan­d­ina Fam­ily Cen­tre and the City of Kar­ratha re­ceived $300,000 each, for a re­fur­bish­ment and a park ex­pan­sion re­spec­tively.

The Onslow Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try, WA Cen­tre for Re­mote and Ru­ral Medicine, Pil­bara Re­gional Coun­cil and Big hART also re­ceived fund­ing.

There were also a bevy of Com­mu­nity Chest re­cip­i­ents who were awarded up to $50,000 each, in­clud­ing the Parabur­doo Mo­tor­cy­cle Club, Onslow Rodeo As­so­ci­a­tion, Onslow Tourism and Progress As­so­ci­a­tion, De Grey Land Con­ser­va­tion District Com­mit­tee, Kar­ratha BMX Club and Ngar­luma Yind­jibarndi Foun­da­tion.

In Ex­mouth, the Ex­mouth Ten­nis Club, Sport­ing Shoot­ers, Yacht Club and St John Am­bu­lance Sub Cen­tre all re­ceived fund­ing to up­grade fa­cil­i­ties.

Re­gional De­vel­op­ment Min­is­ter Terry Red­man said the money would help re­gional or­gan­i­sa­tions fund com­mu­nity-driven projects, which made a big dif­fer­ence in their ar­eas.

Mem­ber for North West Cen­tral Vince Cata­nia con­grat­u­lated lo­cal re­cip­i­ents.
