Low-grade product lion’s share of Atlas shipments
Atlas Iron got five shipments of low-grade ore away as prices rose in the December quarter, with the cheaper product making up the biggest portion of the company’s shipments since iron ore prices crumbled in 2015.
Atlas shipped 500,000 tonnes of its value fines last quarter.
This was up from 400,000t in the September period and 300,000t in the March quarter.
The company shipped 4 million tonnes of iron ore in the December quarter, including 2.3mt of its standard product and 1.2mt of lump.
Atlas said it realised an average $70 a wet metric tonne for its standard and lump ore shipments, and an average $66/wmt including low-grade shipments.
