Help needed in in­quiry into as­sault

Ex­mouth po­lice are seek­ing pub­lic in­for­ma­tion into an al­leged Aus­tralia Day as­sault which left a man hos­pi­talised for se­ri­ous in­juries.

Po­lice al­lege a 23-year-old man was as­saulted by a group of men in a carpark near Ex­mouth Yacht Club on Fried­man Way be­tween 8.30pm and 9pm.

The vic­tim suf­fered a frac­tured eye socket, per­fo­rated ear drum, nerve dam­age, and sig­nif­i­cant bruis­ing to his face.

He was taken to Ex­mouth Hospi­tal be­fore be­ing trans­ferred to Perth for treat­ment, but has since been re­leased.

Ex­mouth po­lice act­ing Sergeant Ben Croy said po­lice were still seek­ing in­for­ma­tion from mem­bers of the pub­lic about the al­leged as­sault.

They be­lieve sev­eral peo­ple were in the area at the time and are ask­ing any­one with in­for­ma­tion to call Crime Stop­pers on 1800 333 000 or re­port the in­for­ma­tion on­line at www.crimestop­per­swa.com.au.

Po­lice would also like to speak to a man who they be­lieve may be able to as­sist them with in­quiries.

He is de­scribed as in his early 20s, with a fair com­plex­ion and blond hair, ap­prox­i­mately 187cm and a solid mus­cu­lar build.
