Newcrest renews Alliance FIFO contract for Telfer

Pilbara News - - News - Stuart McKinnon

Alliance Aviation will continue to fly Newcrest Mining workers to and from the Telfer gold mine in the Pilbara until 2020.

The airline has been providing fly-in, fly-out services for Newcrest between Perth and Telfer since 2004.

The two parties have agreed to extend the contract for another three years.

The company did not disclose the value of the contract.

Alliance chief executive Lee Schofield said the Newcrest contract announcement was in addition to the CITIC Pacific Sino Iron project contract extension which was announced in December.

He said the news highlighted Alliance’s excellent record of retaining contracts because of industry-leading, on-time performance and operational integrity.

Alliance Airlines is based in Brisbane but it has a significant presence in WA, with dedicated aircraft, crew and maintenance facilities at Perth Airport.

It flies workers between Perth and a host of mine sites in the Pilbara and the Goldfields, using Fokker 50, Fokker 70 and Fokker 100 aircraft.
