Skate clinics back next week
The pro-rider crew from Freestyle Now are hitting Onslow, Tom Price and Paraburdoo next week for three fun-filled skating events.
Shaun Jarvis, Ben Thomas and Match Harris will head to Tom Price and Paraburdoo for the Nightfall Summer Skate night and Onslow for a skate night under the lights.
The Nightfall Summer Skate night will be from 4pm-7pm at Tom Price skate park on Saturday, February 25 and Paraburdoo skate park on Sunday, February 26.
Jarvis said kids of all ages and skating ability were welcome to join in on the fun with their scooters, BMX bikes or skateboards.
“If there’s a three-year-old who comes up to us we try and facilitate the best we can, but we may not always be able to,” he said.
“It’s about having fun and engaging with the youth there and helping them build their skills.”
Jarvis has had many trips to the Pilbara with the Freestyle Now crew and said he looks forward to each visit to see how young riders have progressed.
“There are some really good riders in the area and from what we’ve seen and who we’ve engaged with there are some really good shredders who really kick it hard,” he said.
“We’ll be happy to go back and see how the progress of those guys (is).”
To celebrate the opening of the brand new BHP Billiton Fishbowl on Friday, February 24, the Shire of Ashburton are putting on a free family-friendly event, Skate Night Under the Lights with skating, tunes and food.
