Riders hit summer fun trail
While many of us find an excuse not to exercise outdoors in the Pilbara summer, a large number of members of the Burrup Mountain Bike Club are still taking to trails on the Karratha hills for fitness and fun.
Once a month throughout summer, the BMBC members meet to ride a set course of about 5km for up to an hour as part of a Summer Series competition.
The ride involves each rider choosing how long and how fast they want to ride, with the aim of having plenty of fun with no time component or pressure.
In last month’s event, a bunch of intrepid riders blazed through a tropical thunderstorm that appeared from nowhere.
However, despite the wind and rain, they were still smiling as they crossed the finish line and enjoyed socialising after the event once the rain had stopped.
There is still time to dust off your bike and join the Burrup Mountain Bike Club riders for the last Summer Series ride of the season on Sunday, March 5 at 5.30pm.
