Students use phones in class
Senior high school students spend up to two hours a day looking at their phones in class.
Students said they used phones for social media and research, with 70 per cent saying they learnt more or an equal amount from the internet compared with lessons. A survey of more than 2000 Year 11 and 12 students, by post-schooling website Year 13, found about 90 per cent spent at least 30 minutes on their phone each day in class.
Of those, one in 12 used it for two hours or more a day, one in 10 spent up to 90 minutes, half spent up to 30 minutes.
