Teams play hard ahead of fi­nals

Last Thurs­day, the fi­nal round of Kar­ratha Wa­ter Polo As­so­ci­a­tion pool matches were played be­fore the 2017 fi­nals se­ries.

In the first women’s game of the night, the Bur­rup Bar­racu­das pipped the Pil­bara Pi­rates by a goal, 8-7, with Julie Ann Elkins, Kate Kala­jzich and Por­tia An­gove con­tin­u­ing their good form from the coun­try cham­pi­onships.

In the sec­ond women’s game, the Searip­ple Sharks won their third game of the sea­son against a de­pleted King Bay Krack­ens side, with a fi­nal score of 7-6.

Ashleigh Homes and Jac­inta Felix starred for the Sharks, and Nikki Hem­mett con­tin­ued her great form for the Krak­ens.

In the first men’s game, the Bar­racu­das won a nail­biter against the Krak­ens, 9-8.

Nigel Kroon­s­tu­iver and Rhys Knight dom­i­nated as usual for the Bar­racu­das, and Cur­tis Doughty played well for the Krak­ens.

In the night’s fi­nal game, a firedup Krak­ens side beat the Pi­rates 9-8, with ju­nior Char­lie Re­gan and David Rigby play­ing well for the Krak­ens. The KWPA starts pre­lim­i­nary fi­nals this week, with the grand fi­nal on March 23.
