Brush up on building code
The Building Commission will make a stopover in Karratha next month to update the local building industries on matters relating to the Building Code of Australia and roof compliance.
Regional seminars are scheduled in Bunbury, Busselton, Albany, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Northam, Geraldton, Karratha and Broome.
The morning session will cover product certification and technical interpretation of common queries, as well as the minimum level of documentation required for roofing.
The afternoon session will be dedicated to a presentation about checking roof compliance on-site.
Building Commissioner Peter Gov encouraged local builders and interested parties to attend. “The Building Commission carries out regular audits and inspections, which help us to identify potential problem areas and work with the industry to deal with them before they pose a serious threat,” he said.
“While the issues relating to inadequate roof tie-downs are not confined to any particular area of Western Australia, we are committed to sharing information on the findings of our compliance activities and the Building Code of Australia with building industries across the State to ensure the high quality of workmanship we typically see in regional areas continues.” The Karratha session will be at Welcome Lotteries House on April 27.
