Burrup Mountain Bike Club will take to the Karratha hills this weekend for a 3km poker run.

The event is intended to provide an opportunity for the more skilled riders to mentor and encourage others in a social atmosphere.

Riders will be allocated into teams of two to four based on a random draw and dependent on participant numbers. Teams will be dealt two cards before the start of the event.

For each lap the whole team completes, they will receive a minimum of one card to add to their hand.

Once a team has five cards, it must discard a card or cards before being dealt any others.

At the completion of the event, the team who wins is the team who has the best five-card poker hand.
