Cal­en­dar comp to show off weather photography

There has been no short­age of stun­ning weather photo op­por­tu­ni­ties in Western Aus­tralia this year and now lo­cal pho­tog­ra­phers have a chance to show off their work.

En­tries to the Bu­reau of Me­te­o­rol­ogy’s Cap­ture the Weather photo com­pe­ti­tion close at the end of this month.

Thir­teen im­ages will be cho­sen from the com­pe­ti­tion to fea­ture in the BOM and Oceano­graphic So­ci­ety’s 2018 Aus­tralian weather cal­en­dar. BOM chief ex­ec­u­tive An­drew John­son said in­ter­est­ing in­ter­pre­ta­tions of frost, clouds, rain­bows and sun­shine have been the top picks in pre­vi­ous years.

“We en­cour­age pho­tog­ra­phers to send in work show­cas­ing the diversity of Aus­tralian land­scapes and weather, in­clud­ing im­ages that show the in­ter­ac­tion of ex­tra­or­di­nary weather phe­nom­ena with in­dus­try, in­fra­struc­ture or com­mu­ni­ties,” he said.
