Man, 45, charged with arson
An Exmouth man has been charged with arson after he allegedly set fire to his house last week.
David William Head, 45, is alleged to have started a fire at his Tuckey Street property, where he was living with several family members, in the early hours of Sunday, March 19.
West Pilbara Detectives Senior Sergeant Carlos Correia said the house had been extensively damaged and mostly destroyed in the fire, with the cost of damage estimated to be about $500,000.
No other residents were home at the time of the fire and it did not spread to any other premises.
Police have charged Mr Head with causing criminal damage by fire and refused him bail.
He appeared before Carnarvon Court by video link last week and was remanded in custody.
The WA Police Arson Squad also investigated the blaze.
