Man, 45, charged with ar­son

An Ex­mouth man has been charged with ar­son af­ter he al­legedly set fire to his house last week.

David Wil­liam Head, 45, is al­leged to have started a fire at his Tuckey Street prop­erty, where he was liv­ing with sev­eral fam­ily mem­bers, in the early hours of Sun­day, March 19.

West Pil­bara De­tec­tives Se­nior Sergeant Carlos Cor­reia said the house had been ex­ten­sively dam­aged and mostly destroyed in the fire, with the cost of dam­age es­ti­mated to be about $500,000.

No other res­i­dents were home at the time of the fire and it did not spread to any other premises.

Po­lice have charged Mr Head with caus­ing crim­i­nal dam­age by fire and re­fused him bail.

He ap­peared be­fore Carnar­von Court by video link last week and was re­manded in cus­tody.

The WA Po­lice Ar­son Squad also in­ves­ti­gated the blaze.
