Warriors a force in top position on the ladder

Pilbara News - - Sport - Rob Skinner

Warriors continue to win — and win well — and as a result hold top position on the ladder.

Their solid wins are keeping the competition at bay, with Stickmen and Mongrels on the same points, but Warriors have a vastly superior percentage.

This week, Warriors put Animals away with an easy 12-3 win to keep building on that percentage.

Second-placed Stickmen continue to impress and were too good for fourth-placed Wreckers, defeating them 9-6.

Recaholics also had a good 11-4 win over Slayers, and those two teams are now only one win out from the top four.

Mongrels were missing players and had a hard battle against bottom-placed Punishers and trailed at the first break, 3-2, but managed to level the scores to 5-all going into the last round.

In a close finish, Mongrels scraped in for an 8-7 win.

In the coming weeks, Stickmen will have the opportunity to challenge for top spot.

Next week, they will play thirdplaced Mongrels, who will still be without players but can never be discounted.

The following week, Stickmen will play Warriors, who they went down to in a close 8-7 result the last time they met.

Stickmen were without some of their top-line players at that stage and will be looking to make amends.
