Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan has urged her State colleagues to continue agitating for a full fibre-to-the-premises National Broadband Network roll-out or risk falling behind in the world economy.

Ms MacTiernan said business and industry in regional WA would not be able to compete in the global market while the ageing copper network continued to provide the link between premises and the NBN nodes.

She said Geraldton would have a comparative advantage over the rest of WA as the NBN was rolled out in full there before the Federal Government moved to the fibre-to-the-node model.
