Video store to close its doors
Karratha will see the end of an era this month when the town’s only remaining video store closes its doors as new technology catches up to the region.
Video Ezy is Karratha’s oldest rental video store, having run for more than 20 years, but will shut shop on Mother’s Day after a clearance sale of all remaining stock.
The rental side of the business closed last week with its last retail day on May 1.
Video Ezy Karratha manager Kate Pratt said during the mining boom there were lines of customers stretching to the back of the store, but the recent move towards watching movies and TV shows online had taken its toll on business.
She said store staff and many of their customers were sad to see the store close but it marked the beginning of a new chapter.
In a public statement, store staff thanked customers for their patronage and support over their time in operation.
The Video Ezy sale is on from 10am to 6pm every day until May 14.
