Jimeoin stops in Pilbara for inland WA tour
One of the biggest names in stand-up comedy is taking to Pilbara stages this week for five days of performances guaranteed to get audiences laughing.
UK stand-up comic Jimeoin will be performing in Dampier, Onslow, Paraburdoo, Tom Price and Pannawonica from tonight until May 14 in a series organised by the Shire of Ashburton in partnership with Rio Tinto and the Chevron Wheatstone project.
Jimeoin began his career touring Australia in the early 1990s, had his own TV show based here called Jimeoin Down Under, and remains a regular at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Despite having toured Australia extensively, the comic said this trip would mark his first visit to the Pilbara region.
“I have driven the whole west coast of Australia but never made it inland,” he said.
“I like a sunburnt country — only because it was freezing where I came from.”
When asked to name his main comic inspiration, Jimeoin said it was probably similar to that of a lot of people in the Pilbara.
“Money is a big inspiration,” he said. “We are all in the Pilbara to make money.”
As to what audiences could expect, the comedian said he only promised pure entertainment.
Jimeoin is performing in Dampier tonight followed by shows in Onslow, Paraburdoo, Tom Price and Pannawonica each night until Sunday.
