Big turnout for start of competition

Pilbara News - - Sport - Annabelle Little

There was a big turnout for the start of the senior hockey pro comp last week to see the four highly skilled teams in action.

With up to five subs on the sidelines, the modified field was full to capacity, and speed and skill were needed to get through the field.

Team Oresome and the Pilbara Pirates were the winners of this round, while the Peacocks and the Dedheads will aim to fight back next week.

Honourable mentions go to newcomers Devina and Charlie for their work on the winning teams.

There was also a strong turn-out for the second night of the Nickol Bay Hockey Association’s intermediate skills workshop, with more than double the usual number in attendance. Players convinced their parents to hang around for an extra half an hour to play a quick match.

It was great to see the talent happening at the intermediate level and the pathway for juniors through to the senior competitions.

New players are always welcome at the association.
