Kook­abur­ras fly in for ju­nior clin­ics

Kar­ratha ju­nior hockey play­ers had the chance to train with mem­bers of the Aus­tralian team when two Kook­abur­ras vis­ited town to run a se­ries of chil­dren’s skills clin­ics.

Joel Car­roll and Ki­ran Arunasalam hosted hockey clin­ics at schools through­out the City of Kar­ratha ear­lier this month for Hockey Aus­tralia’s In­dige­nous Pro­gram, spon­sored by Fortes­cue Met­als Group.

In what will be the first of four vis­its over the sea­son, the squad mem­bers drilled lo­cal stu­dents in ba­sic skills as well as some tricks.

One of their stops on the tour was with the Nickol Bay Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion’s first Ju­nior Hookin2Hockey pro­gram for the sea­son at Tam­brey Pri­mary School, which drew a 40-strong crowd.

NBHA pres­i­dent Annabelle Lit­tle said school par­tic­i­pa­tion at the Tam­brey ju­nior ses­sion was fan­tas­tic and the club was work­ing to­wards run­ning hockey clin­ics in all Kar­ratha schools from Term 3.
