Andrew and Jono King share reno rules
1. Paint like a pro
Don’t be tight when it comes to buying paint supplies.
The thicker and wider the roller is, the easier the painting becomes. I think we went for around an 18mm nap roller or sheep’s wool.
2. Planning and preparation
Make sure to have a good plan to begin with — this is the most important step. Draw it up or create a mood board using photos you’ve researched.
It will save you time and money in the long run.
3. Shop to your plan
We learnt the hard way in Victoria when we bought a mirror because we liked it and then tried to base all the other purchases around it. It threw the whole plan out of the window.
4. Visualise each space
Before putting up walls or buying furniture, use tape to map out the size of the room on the ground and where the furniture would be. It gives you a real visual of what the room would be like to live in.
5. Have fun
You make better decisions when you’re having fun, not stressing. Have a cup of tea and relax, it will help you make decisions.
