Wolves dominate on field as they go on the rampage against Rovers
Wickham Wolves have claimed another win and look to be setting themselves up well for another shot at finals after a 91-point win over Port Hedland Rovers in their league game.
Playing at Wickham Oval on Saturday, the home team went on a rampage and dominated across the field and on the scoreboard.
The Wolves kicked at least four majors in each quarter of the game and finished with six in the final term alone.
Player Kendall Taylor led the charge, kicking a massive nine goals for his side. The final score stood at 19.17 (131) for the Wolves to Rovers’ 6.4 (40).
The win cements Wickham’s toptwo place on the league ladder by round 8, sitting on the same sevenone win-loss ratio as the Karratha Kats and only trailing them on percentage. Port Hedland Rovers are currently in fifth place on the ladder with two wins and six losses for the season so far.
Wickham also defeated the Rovers in reserves though it was a much closer match.
After Port Hedland got four majors clear at half-time, the Wolves came storming back in the third term and blitzed their opponents with a seven-goal scoring effort. Rovers were unable to make up the difference in the final term leading to a 15-point win for the home side.
Mark Lockyer was the top scorer for the Wolves with three.
