Wolves dom­i­nate on field as they go on the ram­page against Rovers

Wick­ham Wolves have claimed an­other win and look to be set­ting them­selves up well for an­other shot at fi­nals af­ter a 91-point win over Port Hed­land Rovers in their league game.

Play­ing at Wick­ham Oval on Satur­day, the home team went on a ram­page and dom­i­nated across the field and on the score­board.

The Wolves kicked at least four ma­jors in each quar­ter of the game and fin­ished with six in the fi­nal term alone.

Player Kendall Tay­lor led the charge, kick­ing a mas­sive nine goals for his side. The fi­nal score stood at 19.17 (131) for the Wolves to Rovers’ 6.4 (40).

The win ce­ments Wick­ham’s toptwo place on the league lad­der by round 8, sit­ting on the same sevenone win-loss ra­tio as the Kar­ratha Kats and only trail­ing them on per­cent­age. Port Hed­land Rovers are cur­rently in fifth place on the lad­der with two wins and six losses for the sea­son so far.

Wick­ham also de­feated the Rovers in re­serves though it was a much closer match.

Af­ter Port Hed­land got four ma­jors clear at half-time, the Wolves came storm­ing back in the third term and bl­itzed their op­po­nents with a seven-goal scor­ing ef­fort. Rovers were un­able to make up the dif­fer­ence in the fi­nal term lead­ing to a 15-point win for the home side.

Mark Lock­yer was the top scorer for the Wolves with three.
