Twenty-two Karratha women enjoyed a weekend of pilates and pampering at the relaxing Women’s Wellness Retreat at the Mackerel Islands.

The June 16-19 retreat was hosted by Karratha-based pilates studio XS Energy and involved daily pilates and meditation sessions, a mandala-making workshop, spa treatments, a cooking demonstration, beach activities and an opportunity to relax and take in the seaside serenity near Mackerel Islands.

XS Energy studio founder Wendy Drew said the inaugural event was a great success.

“We were spoilt with amazing food at the island and Onslow Beach Resort and my guests had plenty of time to chill out, read a book or catch up with friends and make new ones,” she said.

“I have had amazing feedback from my guests and am already planning the next one and possibly another at a different location.”

Several local businesses got involved in the retreat including Cantik Make-up Artistry which pampered guests with facials and manicures, and Krystal Panakera-Thorpe, who facilitated guided meditation sessions.
