Red Dog’s role as the Pilbara’s tourism symbol continues with a special featurette produced for the film Red Dog: True Blue’s DVD release promoting the region’s landscapes.

Interviews with actors and production crew provide an insight into what the cast and crew members discovered while living in the Pilbara during production.

In the featurette, film director Kriv Stenders described the Pilbara as striking, cinematic, and evocative.

Actor Bryan Brown said he was captured by the region’s landscape.

“I don’t know whether it’s romantic or mythical or what it is, but it’s very beautiful,” he said.

The film crew visited Millstream-Chichester National Park, Roebourne and Point Samson, as well as beaches and cafes, while filming in 2015.

They also attended a Ballet on the Beach performance, joined an Aboriginal rock art tour with Ngurrangga Tours and explored the Dampier Archipelago with Discovery Sailing.
