Sharks move above Kats after crushing Rovers in round 12
Dampier Sharks have moved up into second position on the North Pilbara Football League ladder after a percentage-boosting mauling of Port Hedland Rovers in their round 12 game.
Playing at Windy Ridge Oval on Saturday, Sharks did not hold back on their way to kicking a massive 25.15 (165) to Rovers’ 0.3 (3) in an important win for the building side.
Rovers struggled to score, only managing a few points over the whole game while the Sharks capitalised in their mission to move up the ladder with finals fast approaching.
Sharks player Guy Langdon played a major role, kicking six goals, while David Walley and Deon Alec kicked four each and Jono Binsalleh scored three.
The win means the Sharks move above Karratha Kats on the ladder on percentage, with both sides having an 8-4 win-loss ratio for the season so far.
Meanwhile, the Rovers, who have had a difficult season, remain fifth on the ladder.
Rovers fared far better in the reserves match, however, where they got a big win by defeating Sharks 17.8 (110) to 3.12 (30).
Rovers’ early set-up and better conversion rate put them in good stead to win the game.
Rovers are in third place on the reserves ladder and Sharks are trailing in last place.
