Karratha and Districts Junior Soccer Association pulled off a clean sweep of the 2017 Pilbara Soccer Championships last weekend. The Leisureplex played host to the two-day competition featuring teams from Karratha, Newman and Port Hedland.

Karratha’s junior soccer stars found the back of the net to sweep the field at the 2017 Pilbara Soccer Championships, held at the Leisureplex last weekend.

Teams travelled from Newman and Port Hedland to compete in the two-day competition, but it was the home side who rose to record victories in every age group.

Newman played Karratha in the under-17s final, and some strong defence and outstanding goalkeeping kept the scores at 0-0.

As players tired, the game opened up and Karratha’s forwards took advantage, slotting three goals to win 3-0.

It was a goalfest in the under-13s final between Karratha and Port Hedland.

Karratha’s midfield proved agile, feeding plenty of ball forward to help their team to a 10-2 win.

Karratha’s under-11s had a tough scrap against Port Hedland, but a late goal to Braiden Irwin sealed the game 2-0 in the home side’s favour.

And in the under-9s, Karratha and Port Hedland played an exciting end-to-end game, which saw the home team prevail 3-1.
