Easy and delicious apple sauce
Homemade sauces are easy to make. Stock up on apples in their peak season to create this delicious rich sauce. Preparation 15 minutes Cooking 15 minutes Serves 11⁄2 cups
4 large Granny Smith apples 1 lemon, rind finely grated, juiced 11⁄2 tablespoons caster sugar
Peel, core and chop apples. Combine apple, 2 tbsp lemon juice and 2 tbsp cold water in a saucepan. Bring to the boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium. Cover and cook for 12-15 minutes or until apples soften. Stir in lemon rind and sugar. Allow to cool slightly. Transfer mixture to a food processor and puree until smooth. Serve warm or cold.
