Easy and de­li­cious ap­ple sauce

Homemade sauces are easy to make. Stock up on ap­ples in their peak sea­son to cre­ate this de­li­cious rich sauce. Prepa­ra­tion 15 min­utes Cook­ing 15 min­utes Serves 11⁄2 cups


4 large Granny Smith ap­ples 1 lemon, rind finely grated, juiced 11⁄2 ta­ble­spoons caster sugar


Peel, core and chop ap­ples. Com­bine ap­ple, 2 tbsp lemon juice and 2 tbsp cold wa­ter in a saucepan. Bring to the boil over medium-high heat. Re­duce heat to medium. Cover and cook for 12-15 min­utes or un­til ap­ples soften. Stir in lemon rind and sugar. Al­low to cool slightly. Trans­fer mix­ture to a food pro­ces­sor and puree un­til smooth. Serve warm or cold.
