City starts cy­clone clean-ups

The City of Kar­ratha has started pre­par­ing for cy­clone sea­son with street prun­ing and an­nual yard clean-up col­lec­tions tak­ing place.

Works will in­clude a verge col­lec­tion ser­vice for yard clut­ter and clear­ing dead wood and branches that could pose a risk in ex­treme weather con­di­tions.

Verge col­lec­tions will be on Oc­to­ber 9 for Dampier, Kar­ratha Airport, Bul­garra and the city cen­tre; Oc­to­ber 16 for Mil­lars Well and Pegs Creek; Oc­to­ber 23 for Bayn­ton and Nickol; and Oc­to­ber 30 for Roe­bourne, Wick­ham, Point Sam­son and Cheed­itha.

City of Kar­ratha Mayor Peter Long said he en­cour­aged all res­i­dents to have house­hold emer­gency kits and use the verge col­lec­tion ser­vice.
