Port Hedland’s biggest party is back and Hedlanders are channelling their inner divas as they put the final touches to their costumes.

In its 19th year, Hedland Waterpolo Association’s annual Pimps and Pros is taking on a rock and pop theme.

Association president Brad Pawlenko said the theme followed on from a trial from last year to make the night all-encompassing.

“What the theme allows people to do is if they don’t want to dress up the traditional way, they can dress to theme,” he said.

“We will be having prizes on the night for best dressed and hopefully everyone can feel comfortable no matter what they wear.” Despite rumours, Mr Pawlenko said people would not be turned away if they weren’t in costume.

However, he encouraged everyone to get into the theme to make it a good night.

“We’re all very excited and it’s going to be a big event,” he said.

“We’re looking to get a good DJ in and hopefully everyone has a good time dancing and enjoying the night.”

The 18-plus event is the main fundraiser for the association.

It will be held on September 23 at the Pier Hotel.

Tickets are available at Smirkey’s Sports and the Pier Hotel for $50.

Limited tickets will be available on the night.
