In a friendly rematch of the North West Championships, Karratha Hockey Club travelled up to Port Hedland to take on Hedland Hockey on October 21.

Despite a strong start to the match and holding their own against their southern competitors, Karratha proved too much for Hedland, taking the win 10-2.

Playing on a blistering 44C day, Karratha Hockey Club captain Steven Cook said despite the heat, the day was a great success.

“It’s been great to come to Port Hedland to play this game,” he said.

“We had the North West Champs earlier this year where we had such a great time so we thought we’d have this follow-up game.

“It’s a good chance for the two hockey communities to have a chat with each other and bond, as well as getting a chance to play our sport.”

Hedland Hockey president Nicky Latham said everyone enjoyed the day and hoped to do it again.

“Registration for both juniors and seniors are still open for the Hedland Hockey Club and we really encourage anyone to join in, “she said.
