Six linked to gang charged

Six peo­ple linked to the Mon­grel Mob street gang are fac­ing se­ri­ous drugs charges af­ter a po­lice op­er­a­tion tar­get­ing the group in the Pil­bara net­ted $500,000 worth of meth.

De­tec­tives al­legedly found 501g of meth in a car they stopped on North West Coastal High­way about 52km south of Kar­ratha on Oc­to­ber 19.

Two men in the car — Vaughn Sel­wyn, 27, and Michael Mare Hirini, 19 — were charged with pos­sess­ing a traf­fi­ca­ble amount of methy­lam­phetamine with in­tent to sell or sup­ply.

Six fur­ther po­lice raids on Thurs­day re­sulted in the ar­rests of an­other four peo­ple af­ter po­lice al­legedly found small quan­ti­ties of meth, MDMA and cannabis at their prop­er­ties.

Al­leged pres­i­dent of the Mon­grel Mob Kar­ratha chap­ter Ka­rauna Mor­gan Ripia, 25, has been charged with con­spir­ing to sell or sup­ply a pro­hib­ited drug other than methy­lam­phetamine.
