Achieve­ments recog­nised

The achieve­ments of Tom Price Se­nior High School Year 12 stu­dents were cel­e­brated on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 19, at an end-ofyear awards cer­e­mony.

Those who have per­formed well across many dis­ci­plines and sub­ject ar­eas within the school’s cur­ricu­lum and in its ex­tra-cur­ric­u­lar ac­tiv­i­ties were recog­nised for their ef­forts.

An­drea Tapera pre­sented the Wel­come to Coun­try be­fore Jade Smith and Te Wairua Taua led the singing of the Aus­tralian Na­tional An­them.

TPSHS se­nior school man­ager Heather Boyd said a power point pre­sen­ta­tion of mag­i­cal mo­ments cap­tured through­out the Year 12s time at the school brought tears and laugh­ter among the au­di­ence.

“Con­grat­u­la­tions to the class of 2018 and we wish you all the very best with your fu­ture en­deav­ours,” she said. “You have made a sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion dur­ing your time at Tom Price SHS, mak­ing life-long friend­ships and cre­at­ing fab­u­lous mem­o­ries.”

Prin­ci­pal An­drew Jack and Pas­tor Gavin Dou­glas ad­dressed the stu­dents, par­ents and spe­cial guests, fol­lowed by the sub­ject and course awards.

The Award for Ex­cel­lence in ATAR Univer­sity Path­way went to Teisha Walker, who also took home the Cal­tex Best All Rounder award.

Jack Daw­son won both the Award for Ex­cel­lence in Gen­eral Path­way and ADF Long Tan Lead­er­ship award. The Aus­tralian Su­per Award for Ex­cel­lence in VET went to Chloe John­son, while the Gu­mala Abo­rig­i­nal Cor­po­ra­tion Most Out­stand­ing In­dige­nous Stu­dent award went to An­drea Tapera. School cap­tains An­drea Tapera and Drew Mi­si­uepa re­flected on their time at TPSHS, re­mind­ing stu­dents of their friend­ship over the years as well as the op­por­tu­ni­ties which await them postschool.
