PLEBISCITE IS A BRIDGE TOO FAR

Pinjarra Murray Times - - OPINION -

NO wonder the average Aussie gets frustrated with politicians.

Canberra has now been forced to send the same sex marriage issue to a plebiscite. It will cost about $122 million to send out to the Australian public by mail on a non-compulsory vote.

The average Aussie only votes when it's compulsory to avoid a fine. Then, if I heard correctly, when the result gets back to Canberra they once again have to vote.

It's like a dog chasing its tail. Once again the expensive Senate in Canberra is showing it's useless.

We could have had a new Mandurah Estuary bridge built alongside the existing one instead of a “Claytons” vote. Unbelievable. CHARLIE GIBSON, Falcon
