Bike Week Bonanza on its Bikeley again
THE South Metropolitan Health Promotion Service (SMHS) has been awarded the 2017 WA Bike Week Bikeley Collaboration Award for its coordination of the Peel Region Cycle Instead Bike Week Bonanza.
The honour was awarded by the Department of Transport and WestCycle to the Bike Week event that best worked with community groups and other organisations to share and communicate the ‘cycling for transport’ message.
This is the second time the Bike Week program in the Peel region has received a Bikeley award.
Announcing the award, the WestCycle Bike Week team said the achievement was a testament to the hard work of SMHS health promotion offi- cer Robyn Lister.
This year’s Peel Region Bike Week comprised a 17-day program with 15 different events hosted by a range of local organisations, bike clubs and business owners.
Underpinning the success of the Peel Bike Week program was its collaborative approach involving many agencies, clubs and groups.
Financial support from partner organisations has helped ensure a diverse range of events each year.
