FORMER Mandurah mayor Paddi Creevey is the new chairwoman of the Peel Development Commission.

Ms Creevey served as mayor from 2005 to 2013 and will help drive the State Government’s economic development agenda in the Peel region, including the job-creating Transform Peel project.

She has a range of board experience, including Regional Development Australia, Peel Regional Planning Scheme, the Coasts and Climate Change Council and Peel Community Development Group.

She has been awarded the Centenary Medal, the Order of Australia Medal and was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame in 2011.

Ms Creevey replaces outgoing Paul Fitzpatrick, who has made a significant contribution to the region and development of the Transform Peel project.

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan said people in the Peel knew Ms Creevey and her energy and passion for the community.

“Tackling high unemployment rates in the Peel through the Government’s job-creating projects like development of the Nambeelup Business Park will be a key focus,’’ she said.

“The Government also recognises the significant contribution of Mr Fitzpatrick.”

Paddi Creevey is chairwoman of Peel Development Commission.
